On March 18, 2026, two things happened on opposite ends of the enterprise AI market, and they told the same story.

Microsoft quietly paused the automatic rollout of the Microsoft 365 Copilot app to Windows devices outside the European Economic Area. Admin frustration and user resistance had accumulated enough that the company pulled back on what was effectively a forced install campaign. When vendors start shipping products that lead with "here's what generic AI gets wrong," the market is past the hype cycle and into the reckoning.

The reckoning is this: installation is not adoption, and access is not trust.

This is the piece that rarely comes up in vendor pitches: you can have the best model, the best interface, the best rollout strategy, and still fail if the source knowledge is a mess.
