Document AI Is Moving From Extraction to Execution. That Changes the Risk.

Document agents can now fill forms, redact, and route edits through approvals. The hard problem isn't the tools — it's the knowledge behind them.

The category just shifted — from chat to execution

For most of the last two years, "document AI" meant one of two things: OCR that pulls structured data from forms, or chatbots that let employees ask questions about PDFs. Both were useful. Both were fundamentally passive — the AI read, and humans decided what to do with the output.

That's changing.

The old document AI ran on a simple loop: ingest, extract, respond. The human stayed in the loop because the AI was advisory by design.
